Question 116: (November 7th, 2015) Answer

Answer: 10ft. It will be constant as the water getting filled and drained is exactly same.
First pump can fill the tank in 5 hours. So it can fill 1/5th of the tank in 1 hour.
Second pump can fill the tank in 7.5 hours. So it can fill 1/7.5th (= 2/15th ) of tank in 1 hour.
Based on the above facts, both pumps together can fill (1/5 + 2/15 = 5/15) th of tank in 1 hour.
So both the pumps can fill 1/3rd of the tank in 1 hour.
Third pump can drain the tank in 3 hours, which means it can drain 1/3rd of the tank in 1 hour.
Which means the water getting filled by the first and second pumps is exactly same as the water drained
by the third pump. So the water level in the tank will not change even after 5 hours.
It is a little tricky question. Isn't it?
